  1. dear scarlett, i have recently left an abusive church in clackamas, oregon on 4/19/10. i noticed you didn't get many "hits" but when I came across this web site I was so encouraged to keep fighting this church and others who abuse and victimize their congregations. I would like to expose the pastor as I feel the congregation can't or won't see what is happening to them. I could not see either untill about 4 dAys after leaving. I feel the congregation of this abusive church are victims and can't see the writing on the walls. please pray, your anomymous sister in Christ. Don't get discouraged by the lack of "hits." People are reading!

  2. Hello Scarlett,

I'm glad for your posts on a diffult subject. Thought you and others would like to know about my doctoral study now in a book.

I researched spiritual abuse and recovery. I was delighted at the good response from people in so many places. I believe that it is a welcome resource on this topic.

You can find information about my book on my website: www.churchexiters.com.

People can contact me at: info@churchexiters.com.

    Regards,
    Dr. Barb Orlowski

    1. Thank you Dr. Orlowski. I've been to your site, and it's excellent. I too am a church exiter...permanently. The abuse is simply too rampant, and I'm not in a mood to start attempting to reinvent the wheel. I just feel the desparate need to warn and help as many others as I can.

  3. Hi Anon 1! When you responded to this article, I had just barely begun this blog, so it hadn't started "being crawled" by the search engines. That's Internet jargon, lol, so that's the reason for "not so many hits". Actually, I'm surprised you found the blog as quickly as you did.
It's sad, but unfortunately most people don't start searching for answers regarding church and spiritual abuse until they've been abused. I'm glad you came out dear heart, better late than never. Pray for this church? Yes, and the pastor as well that he will either repent, or step down, OR that the LORD will remove him. It's also sad to say but this is not the exception to the rule. There are altogether too many cases of this sort of thing occuring. I thank God for the Internet that these abuses are being brought to light much more easily than they would have otherwise.

    God bless!
